We have one of the best development teams and we are very proud to bring them to the spotlight, one by one. Today we would like you to meet Markus, who is our full-stack developer.
His colleagues describe him as a firestarter, who is always full of energy and never backs away at a challenge. Whether it’s coding, working out, or DeFi, Markus is always passionate about the topic at hand. In turn, this motivates the entire team to get things done. Markus is hardworking and he takes an interest especially in developing user interfaces – also Hotelbuddy’s user interface (front end) code is mostly written by him. Markus is also very friendly and super helpful, he always helps out a fellow in trouble. Markus likes to hike and he spends almost every weekend on a different hiking trail. He also loves to travel, it is not something that he can do very often, but when he does then he takes great pleasure in that. He loves to meet people from different cultures and see how people live in different countries. In the summertime, he also plays a lot of disc golf.
In order to get to know Markus better, we asked him the traditional 15 questions:
What’s your job title/role at Hotelbuddy?
Full-Stack Software Developer
What sort of duties do you have at Hotelbuddy?
My main duty is to develop the HotelBuddy application. I also take part in the meetings regarding the development of the project.
How long is your experience at the IT/tech field?
I’ve been developing software over 2.5 years now.
What was your first job?
My first real job has been and still is software developing.
Who inspires you?
I’d say Elon Musk has been a long time inspiration for me. The way he dedicates himself to what he does and never gives up on his dreams motivates me.
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
The most existing part of my job is when I finish developing something and see the end product.
What’s something you find challenging about your work?
I find it difficult to start doing a new task/project. It takes some time to think through what has to be done and what are the differences. I would just like to get straight to the developing stage.
What’s your most-used productivity hack?
I turn off all social media and notifications on my computer. This way I don’t get sidetracked and can focus on the task at hand.
What animal would you consider your spirit animal?
I’d say a penguin. The penguins work as a team and often carry out complicated tasks, never giving up trying. I also like to work in teams and I never give up, even if the task or situation is very complicated. I believe that there is always a solution to everything.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’d consider myself being a hybrid. Some days I am most productive in the morning, some days I find to be most focused during the evening/night.
What show are you currently binge-watching?
At the moment I’m binge watching Kobra Kai.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It’s quite an cliché answer, but I wanted to be an astronaut and explore the vastness of space.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
I’d say a rather not too warm or cold day, where all you need is a light jacket.
Is your glass half full or half empty?
I’d say half full, always look on the positive side of things.
If you had a warning label, what would yours say?
Warning: Don’t ever underestimate me
